Nichols worked for nine years at ESPN which was where she earned the network two Emmy Awards. Nichols reported on NBA television broadcasts for TNT as well as the playoffs, regular season as well as All-Star broadcasts. She also reported for TBS covering baseball and golf broadcasts, and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. It is the only nomination in 42 years of the award for a female among more than 200 nominated contestants.
